DIY and Alterations

Thinking of doing some DIY?

We know that making your home feel like your own is important — whether it’s putting up shelves, redecorating, or making small improvements. If you’re planning any DIY work, please check with us first to make sure everything’s safe and allowed.

When you’ll need permission

Some types of work need our approval before you get started. This includes things like:

  • Laying new flooring (like laminate or tiles)
  • Installing a new kitchen or bathroom unit
  • Changing internal doors
  • Painting outside doors or fences
  • Making structural changes or altering electrics

Getting permission helps us make sure the work meets safety standards and won’t cause problems later on for you or for future repairs.

What You Can Usually Do Without Asking

You don’t normally need permission for small, non-permanent changes like:

  • Painting or wallpapering inside walls
  • Hanging pictures or mirrors
  • Changing curtains or blinds

If you’re not sure, just ask. We’re always happy to help.

How to ask for permission

We’ll take a look and let you know if it’s approved or if we need more information. Please wait for written permission before starting any work.
