Tenancy Audits

Your Tenancy Audit Explained

We carry out regular Tenancy Audits to help ensure the information we hold about you and your household is accurate and up to date. These visits also give us the opportunity to check that your home is being maintained in line with your tenancy agreement and to offer any support you may need.

What is a Tenancy Audit?

A Tenancy Audit is a short, in-person visit from your Housing Officer. These audits are part of a rolling programme across all our properties. Your Housing Officer will contact you by letter to arrange a convenient appointment.

How to Verify Your Officer

Please do not let anyone into your home unless they show valid STAR Housing identification. If you’re ever unsure, contact us on 0333 32 12 200 to confirm their identity before allowing access.

What to Expect During the Visit

Your Housing Officer will take the following steps:

  • Identity Check: Check your ID and compare signatures with the original tenancy agreement.
  • Proof of Residency : You will be asked to provide a proof of residency.
  • Brief Questionnaire: Complete a brief questionnaire with you to confirm who is living in the property and that your contact details are correct.
  • Property Check: Request to look around the property to confirm it is your main home, is being maintained in line with your Tenancy Agreement, and is not being sublet or misused.
  • Final Sign-Off: Ask you to sign the completed questionnaire.
  • Support Offered: Offer advice or support if needed based on anything discussed or observed.

The visit will be short and focuses on confirming your tenancy details and property condition.

Please Prepare These Documents

During the visit, you’ll be asked to provide two forms of identification, including:

  • One Photographic ID (e.g., passport or driving licence)
  • One Proof of Address (e.g., utility bill or bank statement)
