Best Communal Garden: This is for communal gardens shared by customers. You can enter your communal garden on behalf of all residents or come together as a group if you have worked together on the space. Let's celebrate teamwork and community spirit!
Best Container: This category is for the best use of pots and planters. Show us how you can create stunning displays using containers.
Wonderfully Wild: Our new category! The wild gardening trend emphasises natural designs and low-maintenance, native plants. Create diverse and biodiverse garden spaces that attract wildlife and reduce the need for fertilisers and intensive maintenance. It's a shift away from formal, manicured gardens towards a more relaxed and eco-friendlier look.
Competition Terms and Conditions:
Entrants must be tenants, leaseholders, or live in a STAR Housing property. Parents and guardians are required to complete the entry on behalf of under-16s. Only one category can be entered per property. There can also only be one entrant per communal garden, and the prize will be awarded to the named person(s) on the application form. If you are entering the communal garden category, you cannot enter the same garden into the individual garden categories. Entries for the gardening competition must be received no later than Sunday 1st July, 2025. Entries received after this date will not be entered into the competition. For each of the gardening categories, there will be gift card voucher prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. There will be no cash alternatives; prizes are non-negotiable. You can only nominate someone else if you have gained their approval. Independent judges will judge all entries to the competition. The judges’ decisions will be final. The winners will be notified in writing. A list of winners will be available on our website, www.starhousing.org.uk. Winners’ names and photographs will be included in STAR Housing’s publicity.
