Supporting You
At STAR Housing, we’re here to help you feel safe, secure, and supported in your home. We understand that life can be challenging, and our goal is to make sure you have the right support to live independently and confidently in your community.
In this section of our website you’ll find useful information in the types of support we offer and how to get the support you need.

STAR Housing is proud to support the Make a Stand campaign, a national initiative to help tackle domestic abuse in our communities.
This pledge, developed by the Chartered Institute of Housing, Women’s Aid, and DAHA, includes four key commitments:
Our Four Commitments
Support Services
If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call 999. Here are some national services offering confidential support.
National Domestic Violence Helpline
Women’s Aid
Refuge
Men’s Advice Line
Mankind Initiative
Neighbourhood Watch
Galop (LGBTQ+ support)
Forced Marriage Unit
Respect (for those concerned about their own behaviour)

We offer a range of support to help you manage your tenancy and stay independent in your home. This includes tenancy support, financial advice, and help with budgeting.
Housing Benefit Support
If you need help with rent payments, you can give consent for STAR Housing to assist with your Housing Benefit claim.
Adaptations and Accessibility
We can help arrange reasonable adjustments to your home or our services if you have a disability or additional needs. Learn more in our Reasonable Adjustments Policy.
Mutual Exchange
Secure tenants may be eligible to swap homes with another tenant through a mutual exchange scheme. STAR Housing tenants can register for free with HomeSwapper, a national mutual exchange platform. Contact your Neighbourhood Housing Officer or see Mutual Exchange page for more information.
Community Engagement
We encourage tenants to get involved in shaping services and improving neighbourhoods. Look out for opportunities to join tenant panels or attend community events.
