Maintenance in Your Home

Keeping your home safe, efficient, and weathertight

At STAR Housing, we carry out planned maintenance to keep homes safe, warm, and compliant with the Decent Home Standard. This includes replacing kitchens, bathrooms, heating systems, rewiring, and upgrading doors and windows.

We also maintain communal areas and provide adaptations to help residents live independently.

Leaseholder responsibilities may differ – please check your lease or contact us for guidance.

What Happens During a Survey?

A STAR Housing surveyor will:

  • Assess the age and condition of your home’s key features
  • Take photographs to record the current state of the property
  • Discuss any questions you may have

If your home is due for a survey, we’ll contact you to arrange a convenient appointment.

What happens after the survey?

  • The results are entered into our system to help plan future works
  • You’ll be notified if any upgrades are scheduled
  • We’ll give you plenty of notice before any work begins

How Do We Decide What Work Needs Doing?

We carry out Condition Surveys in your home every five years to assess the state of key components such as:

  • Kitchens and bathrooms
  • Boilers and heating systems
  • Insulation and roofs
  • Windows and external doors
  • Roofs

Each item is measured against the Government’s Decent Homes Standard, helping us plan future upgrades and replacements.
