Safeguarding

Understanding Safeguarding

Everyone has the right to live safely, free from abuse and neglect. At STAR Housing, your safety is our priority. We want to make sure you know how to get help if you’re ever worried about someone in your neighbourhood.

What Is Safeguarding?

Safeguarding means protecting adults and children from harm, including abuse and neglect. Abuse and neglect can take many forms and can happen anywhere such as at home, in public places or in hospitals, care homes or day centres.

We have provided some advice below on how to report an issue or what to do if you have a safeguarding concern.

Worried About a Friend or Neighbour?

It’s not always easy to spot abuse or neglect, but if something doesn’t feel right, it’s okay to speak up.

You don’t need to be sure. Just contact the local authority’s safeguarding team and they’ll take it from there.
