Need help keeping warm?

With more cold weather forecast this weekend it may be worth finding out if you could be eligible for a Cold Weather Payment – and there’s still time to apply (just).

The Cold Weather Payment scheme, which is available to you if you receive certain benefits, runs from 1 November to 31 March.

If you are eligible you’ll receive a payment of £25 for each day if the average temperature in your area is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees Celsius or below, for seven consecutive days.

You can check if your area is included in this scheme by entering your postcode into the Department for Work and Pensions postcode checker.

Remember – your area may be covered, but you will need to be in receipt of a benefit to receive a payment.
