STAR Housing offers its tenants free advice on how to manage their money.

We know that tenants can end up struggling with their finances for many reasons, from getting into debt or seeing their benefits cut, to moving house.

We want to make it as simple as possible for tenants to keep bills low, insure their home, save for a rainy day and of course, pay their rent.

Jackie Machado, STAR Housing’s Financial Inclusion Assistant, said:

“We understand that managing your money can be difficult, especially following Christmas and New Year and with all the new changes to benefits. It’s important that our tenants know help is available.

“We offer friendly advice and support which could really make a difference.”

We can visit tenants in their own home or another convenient location to offer support with the following:

  • benefit entitlements and checks
  • bill payments
  • bank accounts
  • affordable loans and savings
  • debt and money worries
  • home insurance
  • heating expenses (affordable warmth) including oil and lpg
  • switching utilities
  • Universal Credit
